Yesterday, we had 4 monarchs to hatch, our 1st this yr. They were all males. We have two more chrysalis that haven't hatched yet. We realize that here in N. Ala., we are not in the "true" migration pattern of the Monarch, but we get a few. At Crestline Elem., largely through the efforts of Chris Grove, we have been watching Monarchs hatch for many years. We pick the leaves with eggs on them, watch the eggs hatch and follow the entire cycle from egg to butterfly.
