While driving from Milwaukee to Appleton on Sept. 18, we encountered many monarchs heading south. On Sept. 19, as many as six monarchs at a time were feeding in my Racine backyard on a buddleia bush. Temps were in the 80s and the wind was gusty. The monarchs held tight to the flowers and fed vigorously.
