Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 09/17/1999

Number: 1

We went to our butterfly garden here at the school and observed the Monarchs on a sunny day temp. about 72. The butterflies were swarming especially the little guys. The students counted at least 32 Monarchs on approximately 8 butterfly bushes. They were very active. We have several small ponds in the garden and have noticed they are on the water flowers too. This is the most we have ever seen at one time. They flutter around when disturbed but return quite rapidly. The evening temperatures have been in the 60's.
