Each morning, at 6:00 a.m., I go out for a 4 mile jog with a teacher colleague. Our running route goes along the Narragansett shoreline, obviously at sea level. We were amaxed to see at least 7 monarchs on our run, that were all lying alongside the road. When we bent down to touch them, they fluttered, but seemed unable to fly. We wondered if they were there because we had experienced an unusually cold temperature the night before, and were somehow affected by the cold. They were gone, however, the next morning...
