We are attepmting to unpave the way for the monarchs. In our school habitat we have been successful in growing a few milkweek plants from seed and transplanting them into a courtyard adjacnet to our classroom. We have been observing monarchs visiting a butterfly bush blooming there this fall and feeding. The milkweed plants overwintered and reappeared in the summer of 1999 after being planted in the spring of 1998. We will continue to observe their growth and hope someday to attract a female monarch in the spring!
