Signs of Fall

Date: 09/28/1999

We had a special visiter this past Saturday in the backyard! The RTHummingbirds (about 2 dozen) were all upset and then we noticed out the back door a female Baltimore (Northern) Oriole nectaring at one of the HB feeders we that had enlarged the holes in. She returned 2 more times and once on Sunday that we know of. Today we were able to see at school some of "our" first migrating hawks ... Broadwings, Mississippi Kites, and Redtails. About 40 in 30 minutes and no "kettle" larger than 5, but more of a steady stream. The troposhere finally had a few cumulosnimbus that made looking up much easier.
