The students, parents and teachers of Osage Elementary School have worked very hard cleaning and planting a 1 acre plot of land adjacent to the school parking lot to turn it into a wildlife garden! This was a spot on school property that was used and abused by humans which was turned into a beautiful garden of trails, and insectarium, a worm garden, a butterfly hibernation site, a bird dust bath, thicket area, art garden and meadow/perching area. Many of our students helped construct the garden and our public works department donated mulch and our school district's maintenance staff initially cleared the area with heavy equpiment and continue to maintain the area surrounding the garden. Parents donated leftover flowers and
trees from their spring plantings and were key to watering the gardens over the summer. The wildlife activity has truly increased in the area over the last several months. We have goldfinches visitiing our art and vegetable garden, loving the sunflowers. Mic
