I observed two Monarchs today at the Niagara Glen, about one mile north of the Whirlpool on the Niagara River. First, at 9;43 a.m., was a female specimen, perfect condition, feeding on the flowers of White Snakeroot (Eupatorium rugosum); weather was warm with cloudless sunshine, moderate breeze. Second, at 4:19 p.m., one individual flying by in a southerly direction, not stopping to feed; sex indeterminate; weather about same as in the morning.
