Have observed a pair of Yellow-bellied Flycathers in my yard for the past 2-3 weeks. It appears they have built a nest next to an old apple tree. They are eating the seeds from the weeds I allowed to grow in the yard (since the drought killed every flower I planted). The male is quite skiddish, but the female allows me to come as close as 2-3 feet to her when she is feedng; she seems not to fear the sound of my voice. I don't know why they came here, but I'm enjoying them very much.
