Tulips PLANTED

Date: 10/16/1999

Number: 1

Greetings Journey North tulip classes! The 1st Madoc Cubs were out and about on Saturday October 16 because it was apple day in Madoc...and because they were creating a beautiful millenium garden for the senior citizens who live at the Madoc Manor. The 1st Madoc Cubs planted 75 Journey North tulips in the front garden. They were very careful to plant at the right depth. We covered the ground with some maple leaves from the lawn and then we put a chicken wire fence over top of the garden to keep the hungry squirrels away from our bulbs. Our friends in the Manor will help us to watch for the tulips to bloom in the spring! It was a beautiful day to plant a garden- the sun was shining, and the leaves were falling from the trees. The 1st Madoc cubs are Kirk, Greg, Chad, John, Jacob, Andrew, Bagheera (Paul) and Akela (Eileen). We had lots of fun. We are going to write a report about our Journey North garden and send it to the Scout magazine for Canada. We got our picture taken for
