One of my students brought a male monarch to school on 10/20/99. He had found it in a ditch. There is a hole in it's upper right wing and has only one antenna. We also have had a parent bring several milkweed plants with many monarch caterpillars eating the leaves, buds, and even stems of the plants. Several have made their crysalis and should emerge by the end of October. We are afraid that the butterflies will not survive because of the predicted frost 10/23 and 10/24.
