Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 11/07/1999

Number: 1

We traveled to points northeast and east of the Lavaca Bay Causeway ... about 65 miles of quiet, back roads and found hundreds and hundreds acres of nectar sources for monarchs (in addition we found some A. viridis in very good shape with evidence of recent larval activity). Several varieties of sunflower, daisy, and goldenrod, but esp. Golden-aster, Camphor Daisy, Bristle-leaf dyssodia, coreposis, Browned-eyed Susan, and Sleepy Daisy, all yellow-gold bloomers. Between 11 am and noon we observed 4 different monarchs drift lazily across the roadway in no particular direction. Female monarchs seen Thursday and Friday at school.
