Our grade four class plus the Enviro Club at Olympic Heights School in Calgary, Alberta, Canada had a wonderful time planting our 36 Red Emperor tulip bulbs on October 21. As we live very close to the Rocky Mountains in southern Alberta, we experience extreme temperatures but also have warm chinook winds that vary the temperature in short periods of time quite dramatically. We look forward to monitoring the tulip growth in the spring and finding out if they emerge earlier than other gardens at the same latitude due to the "chinook effect."
