Tulips PLANTED

Date: 11/19/1999

Number: 1

For several years students in the Gifted Program, which meets at Miller Elementary, have planted tulip gardens and watched the coming of spring on the Journey North site. This year the principal ordered 400 tulip bulbs so all the teachers and students in Miller could join the project. My second grade students planted ten bulbs on November 1. The temperature high that day was 78 degrees. On November 4 my fifth grade students planted 18 bulbs and the weather was still balmy. On November 10 my third graders planted 20 bulbs. The temperature that day was 77 degrees. On November 11 my fourth graders planted 26 bulbs. The temperature was 70 degrees.
Other classroom teachers planted throughout this period of time. We are excited about being able to expand our project.
