I live in Brewerton N.Y.,on the Oneida river. The section of river I live on runs to a damb and does not freeze in the winter.
Today I was watching ducks that gathered in the river when I observed a bald eagle in flight over the water. I first thought this to be a verry large hawk as they are commen in this area, but then I observed the head and the tale to be white and the wings and body to be darker than that of the hawks.
For this reason and the fact that as it flew it would flap its wings with little effort and glide looking down at the water with its head down,as if hunting. I began to think that I may have observed a bald eagle. By this time the eagle was out of my view.AT the time of my observations the eagle was about 200 feet away from me and about 100 feet in the air.
I have seen eagles in the wild of Canada, and have observed them at the zoo and on tv. But at first I could not believe I had observed one this close to home in the wild.
For this reason I contacte
