Red-wing Blackbirds normally winter 50 miles southwest of Elk, Washington. This is the first time that I have seen one at my feeder this early in the season. They normally stop at my feeder on their way north. However, it seems a little early for this, because we still have fourteen inches of snow on the ground, and all the lakes are frozen.
