on sunday the 30th of january, we saw a group of 6 to 8 robins. it is the earliest we have ever seen them (having lived in NY, ME, and NH nearly all of our lives--spent a couple of years in CA and Germany). we had about 8 to 10" of snow a couple days before. it was about 20 degrees out when they arrived. sat in a group of young canadian hemlocks all fluffed out and then flew to the holly bushes on the side of the house, and presumably ate the berries there.
