Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 02/22/2000

Number: 1

I saw a monarch! The weather here is warm in the 70's. Our class brought 2 caterpillars inside and watched one change into a chrysalis. We also found 2 chrysalides outside. One is attached to the front of our school on the brick! Wow! Tomorrow we will begin to plant more flowers in our butterfly garden. We want to be prepared for the butterflies traveling from Mexico. Our milkweed looks great and stands between 1 to 2 foot tall. Also, they are blooming! Our milkweed never died over the winter months because of our mild winter.
