Earthworm (FIRST sighted)

Date: 02/24/2000

Number: 1

After getting about 6" of new snow Feb 19th, it began to melt fast on the 21st. By Feb 23rd most nearby field and walking paths 25 acres of woods was transformed to mud. The wadi that cuts across it flowed with 4" to 8" of water.

The sparrows and house finches that winter here have been very chatty. And the squirrels are back out.

The green tips of daffodils broke though in a protected bed, and while we were looking at our first bulbs imerging a 10" nightcrawler (earth worm) came up and tranversed the bed.

The crocuses and tulips we planted in a more open setting are still underground.
