Spring definitely arrived this past week for Mr. Carroll's Class in Athens, Ohio.
(39° 20' N 82° 6' W) Last Tuesday the killdeers arrived back from their winter vacation. On Friday several robins arrived and were seen hunting for worms in our school yard. On Saturday we caught the first snake of the season, an Eastern Garter Snake, next to a pond near our school. On Saturday evening, spring peepers were heard all over town wherever water had collected from recent rains. Unseasonably warm weather on Thursday, Friday and Saturday may have helped bring the snake and frogs out of hibernation.
