Hummingbird, Other Species Sighted

Date: 01/24/2000

Number: 1

Our sighting is a bit behind in reporting. Several, Allen's Hummingbirds returned to our property to begin corting and nesting. Anna's live here all year. It is hard to distinguish the female Anna's, from the Allen's, so I record when I spot the first males. The Allen's males are bigger show off's, than the Anna's. They dive bomb people who are strange to our property and fight over the bathing area. One of our ponds waterfalls is very shallow and the Allen's love to get into the water and splash. At times 4 or 5 males will fight over it and this remindes us of a Star Wars video game complete with sound!
