We were at the Leslie Science Center, Children's Garden checking out the dye plant garden that we steward. It was there that we saw our first honey bee at a bright yellow crocus.
There is a small orchard at the Children's Garden with a single hive in the middle. We approached the hive and saw no other activity.
On our walk towards Black Pond (also at the Science Ctr) we saw our first butterfly. It was a small orange one with black perimeter markings. It might have been an Orange Sulphur (aka Alfalfa).
The pond itself was silent-- no frogs yet.
