Maple Syrup (FIRST Sap Run)

Date: 02/28/2000

Number: 1

My dad owns a sugarbush near Gouverneur, about 18 miles from Ogdensburg. On February 28th he started to tap his trees. I
visited the sugarbush on Sunday, March 5th. He put holes in the trees to get the sap. He has 200 acres in his sugarbush. He works very hard. After he taps the trees, he puts metal buckets on a hook that come from the tree. He puts a cover on the bucket so nothing gets in. He hasn't started boiling yet, just collecting. Most trees had three buckets but on Sunday, only one bucket would be half full. My name's Shawn.

Hi, I'm Cory. My family has a tree in my backyard that my family is tapping. We started tapping yesterday, March 6th. Last night we started to boiling down the sap. It still need to be boiled. It's brown but not syrup yet.
