Habitat

We have been in the process of creating a backyard habitat for about 8 years. There are feeders, birdbaths with a dripper, suet feeders, hummingbird feeders (in season.) We have been planting many bird, butterfly and hummer attracting perennials such as...coneflower, shasta daisy, monarda, butterfly bush, yellow poplar, cardinal flower, hosta, among others. Also have many annuals...4 o'clocks, sages, morning glory, scarlet runner bean...We have quite a fun collection of wildlife to enjoy both summer and winter. Last year was our first attempt at hummers and we had a few but are hoping to attract more this year. We have a "maraschino cherry sage" that they just adore, but can not find out if that is the correct common name or what the sci. name is. It is not hardy and really gets leggy and sick looking inside over the winter.
