Robins have already made their appearance north of the border in the Belleville area just north of Lake Ontario (Lat. 44.1N Long 77.3W). I saw my first this year on Monday 06 March at 1210 EST: it was on the road, standing, and scuttled off to the side as I approached in my vehicle. It didn't take flight until it reached the gravel shoulder. I heard my first on Thursday morning, 09 March, at 0745 as I was leaving for work. So far, I have see no wave; however, in nearly a half century of bird watching I can't say I've ever seen anything approaching a "wave" in this area. (Occasionally I see pairs or rarely trios, but I don't consider these to be waves).
Also FYI, we've had a very warm spring -- it warmed up to higher than normal temps by mid February around here, and in most of Southern Ontario; in fact, on Wed and Thurs. of this past week, we set record highs (Toronto set one around 70F on Thursday). Generally speaking, around this part of Ontario the robins and redwings appear
