Tulips EMERGED

Date: 03/13/2000

Number: 1

We have had unusually warm weather this winter. Some tulips actually started to emerge in January but did not continue to grow once we got a little colder. We planted an experimental garden that got less sunlight. It does not have as many tulips merging. It also has a blacktop walkway next to it. We have learned that the blacktop retains the heat which should affect the growth. That is why your directions said the bulbs had to be away from buildings or walkways. We are enjoying our project. Today we plotted emerging gardens on a map. So much data helps us learn latitude and longitude. We even developed a theory as to the exact location of Haines, Alaska.
