We were worried when the tulips in Grantfork did not come up after those in Highland, Illinois, only seven miles down the road, had come up in late February. The Grantfork tulips were in a raised flower bed, whereas the earlier bloomers were in a slighly more level area. Both were planted in a northeast exposed area in front of, but away from, the school building.
