We have robins around our school grounds now, getting established in territories. Today we watched four robins. Three were on the ground. One was perched on a low branch on a small tree. Two on the ground would repeatedly come up to each other, jump up about a foot, facing each other, and then hop around some more. One on the ground stayed about 20 feet away. Is this some kind of dominance debate?
We are going to observe where robins get established with nests. We have 20 acres here, about 10 of which might have some good nesting places. How close together will robins live?
