Yahoo!!! I heard our first nighthawk calling last night- I guess it was welcoming St. Patrick's Day to this part of Ontario. As well, we heard the goldfinches singing their spring song today. On my trip along the shoreline of Georgian Bay and Lake Huron I found a snow storm on Monday, but there is almost no snow left in the forest and the bush at my mamere's (granny's) maple sugar bush, and the sap was running in that area. I saw an otter playing on the ice of a small lake which was open in one end. As well, we saw many different species of ducks all along the water edge and there were pairs of Canada geese everywhere.
