Bald Eagle

Date: 03/18/2000

Number: 1

On Saturday, March 18, 2000, I observed 10 Bald Eagles on the Lackawaxen River in Pike County, Pa. 5 adults and 5 immatures.
8 were perching and 2 were flying low over the river. The river water was muddy from recent rain. Additionally, the river was runing very fast appox. 25-30mph. A note of interest the river had been stocked with trout on Thursday, March 16. I live next to the river I am a year round resident. This is the most eagles I've seen at one time all year.
Also, these eagles appeared more tolerant of human proximity to their location. This observation took place between 8:30 and 9:30 AM. The sky was sunny and clear. A slight wind blowing, temperature 30 degrees.
