A Common Loon landed on an area of open meadows that were partially flooded from snowmelt and unseasonable rains. It dove and dove in the small creeK (Black Creek)that drains the meadows, searching for food. By the next day, it was gone. I am reporting this for a friend who has lived in a house here for more than 30 years, a close observer of nature, and she had never seen a Common Loon here. She said she couldn't believe her eyes! But she's an accurate and knowledgable observer.
