On February 29, 2000, we measured the tulip stems to see how
much they were emerging from the ground. We saw the tips of
about 25 shoots. They were red on the tip and had green
on the lower part. The tallest ones were 2 inches. We
checked each week as the stems grew up to 6, 7, and 8
inches tall.
