Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/06/2000

Number: 1

I saw the first Monarch of the season on 4/6, 4 pm, flying over the rooftop of a local fabric store as I entered. I must admit I stopped in the street to watch and shouted a welcome! The weather was clear and bright sunshine, 78df, winds ssw at 5-10 mph. I have found no milkweed here in the city. However, 30 miles to the ne, in Gallatin, at our farm, the milkweed is about 3" high. My brother reported seeing 2 Monarchs there yesterday, as well. He said they were slightly faded. The one I saw was bright orange.
