I observed 12 monarchs today between 10:45 and 11:15 am. Wing color ranged from bright to very faded. Some were nectaring on wildflowers and others were flying low over open fields.
I noticed several were trying to fly north but were being blown
east by the gusty W-SW winds. Temperature was about 70 with clear skies and low humidity. Milkweed height ranges from ground
level to 4".
