Tulips BLOOMED

Date: 04/07/2000

Number: 1

Today is April 11, 2000. The students in my class enjoyed going out to the tulip beds and seeing the brilliant red of the Red Emperor Tulips. They were enthralled with the color. We drew pictures of our tulips. We even took pictures of our tulips.
One student who is very reliable checked on our tulips over spring break. They began to bloom on April 7, 2000. Many more then opened up for a brilliant display of color. One grandmother came to look at our tulip bed and thought it was beautiful. We also have tulips blooming in last year's bed, and a yellow tulip blooming from the bed planted two years ago. That was the year they had run out of red emperor tulips. Not many of those have yet bloomed. Our students will be making a booklet of the growth of their plants, they will relearn the parts of the bulb, and then learn the parts of the flower. We will also dig up bulbs to see the change in them since the fall planting. They also have been calculating the growing degree days. We do enjoy
