Our class tulips bloomed on the 7th of April. We kept records of the ground temperature in our tulip bed since Nov. 29,1999. Here are our results.
Nov.29= 39*F
Dec.6=43*F
Dec.13=22*F(We had a terrific cold snap that week.)
Dec.21=40*F
Jan. 3=30* F
Jan.10=35*F
Jan. 17=22*F
Jan.24=30*F
Feb.1=25*F
Feb.8=20*F
Feb.16=25*F
Feb.24=40*F
Feb.28=42*F(We had a sudden heat wave hit our area at this time.)
Mar.6=42*F---Tulips are 2 in.
Mar.13=40*f-- " " 4 in.
Mar. 20=40*f-- " " 4 in.
Mar.27=49*F-- " " 5 in.
April 3=44*F-- " " 6.5 in.
April 10=40*F(We have had 2 snowstorms!) Tulips are 12 in.
April 12, 2000 tulips are 14 inches.
