Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/22/2000

Number: 1

3:00 PM local time. Adult Monrach sighted at a radio tower site where I was working. Sunny, 70 degrees, light wind. Fluttering roughly 3' above ground level. No nectaring observed, the nectar sources aren't all up & running here yet. Probably saw 2 other Monarchs in the previous 30 minutes. One about 1/2 mile north of the confirmed sighting, the other about 12 miles ENE of the confirmed sighting. This is the first sighting this season & I have been looking. The latitude & longitude are extremely accurate, having been copied from the FM radio station's license.
