Today my husband spotted a Monarch here in
Indianapolis, Indiana and my father-in-law spotted one in Terre Haute,
Indiana -- about 90 minutes west of here. I have Common Milkweed
growing on the south side of my house that's about 6 inches tall, and
the Swamp Milkweed on the west side of the house is starting to come
up. Earlier this week I made a spot check of the wild Milkweed fields
in the area and didn't find any new growth. I'm assuming it's got a
jump start in my yard because of the reflected warmth from my house.
By mid-May last year I found about 60 larvae on the top tender shoots of
some Common Milkweed in this area.
