The first Baltimore Oriole we've seen this year arrived just as expected. There are 2 apple trees in our yard - one Macoun and one Macintosh. When the Macoun is fully in bloom, but the Mac hasn't yet blossomed out the orioles arrive! Both the male and female have been here morning and evening happily eating insects and/or nectar from the blossoms. Uncanny the way nature has established this pattern of timing!
Last year they nested in a nearby (very tall) hybrid poplar. We are hopeful they will stay again this year!
