Spent a week at Lake Sara near Effingham, IL to birdwatch. Must admit it was a shock to see a white pelican fly by! Checked into pelican sightings in area and learned they are infrequent vistors and I was fortunate to see it serveral more times thru May 5.
Has anyone given any thought that the flora was 10 days to two weeks early? The flowering trees in my area were spectacular this year, but early. The lilacs started blooming in April; that is definitely early and the forsythia bloomed before St. Patrick's Day as well.
