I heard a Baltimore Oriole singing in a large oak tree in my yard. It was a male and he quickly darted to another tree in the yard to chase a female who returned his call. I have had a pair nest in several large oak trees that are shared with me and two of my abutting neighbors for the last seven years. I don't know for sure but expect that at least on bird has always been a decendant of the first pair that I observed seven years ago.
I will report back when I find out where they choose to build their nest this season.
Right now all the birds are very territorial, looking for the proper nesting space. Weather very warm in the mid 80's today.
