Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/10/2000

Number: 1

Finally!!! The monarchs have arrived in York, Nebraska! We have seen many bright, beautiful, intact adult monarchs in our community nectaring on Lilac and Dame's Rocket. These are obviously new butterflies that show no signs of a rough journey! We had a cold front go through on Sunday night with some rain, almost as much in one night as we received in the entire month of April. Today the winds are brisk out of the south and this is the first day we have seen many butterflies on the move!
