We have a backyard habitat garden with many nectar species for hummingbirds and butterflies and, especially, 4 species of milkweed. Our common and swamp milkweed are best established and we also have whorled milkweed and butterfly weed (tuberosa). Each year we raise and release monarchs whose eggs were laid or larvae hatched in our garden. This will be our fourth monarch rearing season.
(We also have housing for purple martins in the garden but have only had martins for two (not sequential) seasons)
