Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/17/2000

Number: 1

Today about 4pm I went to the National Arboretum on the banks of the Anacostia River here in DC. I was looking for monarch caterpillars. I found a monarch circling over a meadow. It was faded. There was lots of milkweed. I only saw one fat caterpillar. I did not see monarch eggs . I did see a group of golden eggs on a milkweed egg. The monarch was sipping honey from the flowers of a large holly tree in the field.
