Had a first-year male Bullock's oriole at the nectar feeder today. At first I thought it was a female, but then clearly saw its black throat marking. The scrub (Gambel's) oaks native to this NW section of town leafed out 5/4.
First full-plumage male Bullock's showed up on 5/15, and was at the feeder at different times from the first-year male which showed up earlier. After this day, I no longer saw the first-yr male.
First female showed up 5/19/00. She and the adult male take turns at the feeder, often coming together.
