First monarch seen today! It was flying hard, about 20 feet high, and heading north. I was in traffic, and to confirm the first glympse had to drive while looking backwards for a bit. I've seen two more today (writing 5/21/00), and I think I'll count sightings per day all summmer to see if I can see the population increase when the next generation takes flight (~ late June) and the subsequent generation, ~ late July to early August. Assuming today's monarchs are 1st spring generation (children of monarchs from Mexico), the last generation will be the great-grandchildren...
