The tulips we planted in the fall of 1999 did not emerge in the spring of 2000. It could be because we planted them in a new location where students trampled the ground by the fence. Finally on April 26, 2000, we dug and discovered some bulbs that had very pale, weak sprouts about 4 or 5 cm long. Perhaps the ground was so packed that they were not able to emerge. We'll try again next fall.
