Sighted the first adult Monarch of the year on Thursday, June 8, 2000, at about 10:00 A.M. The day was sunny, warm and the Monarch was getting nectar from blossoms on a pin cherry tree. The milkweed patch is undisturbed (no eggs, holes in leaves, caterpillars, etc.) and the plants are about a foot high. The Monarch's wings were brightly colored and undamaged.Throughout the day and since I have seen two or three Monarchs and the same number of Swallowtails on pin cherry and chive plant blossoms.
