Our school, Poquoson Elementary, planted a butterfly garden in May and June of 2000. This summer our garden has been a food and nectar source for birds and butterflies. Swallowtails are the Virginia state insect and we have seen many of them in our garden. We also planted milkweek to attract monarchs. We also have puddles for the butterflies.
