Little Bay De Noc, Stonington Peninsula, Michigan. This summer we observed the greatest number of caterpillar (monarch)in our milkweek patch. We observed 242 caterpillars between 6/26/00 and 7/16/00 on plants. 47 were observed in spider webs. 10 cocoons were found black. There was an increased number on milkweed bugs this year which would attack the caterpillar. On peninsula point, Stonington, the monarchs began grouping in the cedar trees 7/25/00 in the evenings. I own a 60 ac. farm/field in Stonington, where we spend our summers and observe the monarchs.
